Travel papers

For traveling to Curaçao all visitors need a passport. Although Curaçao is part of The Kingdom of The Netherlands, citizens from The Netherlands can not travel with just their ID card.

To enter Curaçao, all visitors must fill out a Digital Immigration card. This online card should be filled out prior to traveling and must be shown digitally or printed upon arrival.

Geography

Curaçao is a Lesser Antilles island situated in the southern Caribbean Sea about 40 miles north of the Venezuela coast. It is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Together with Aruba and Bonaire, it forms the ABC islands. Collectively, Curaçao, Aruba, and other Dutch islands in the Caribbean are often called the Dutch Caribbean. It is the largest of the ABC islands in both area and population as well as the largest of the Dutch Caribbean.

It has an area of 444 km2 (171 sq mi) and it's capital is Willemstad.


Language

Curaçao is a polyglot country. Dutch, Papiamentu and English mainly spoken. However, Spanish is also spoken by a big part of the population. Basically all the people in Curaçao are at least bilingual.

Currency

The currency used in Curaçao is the Antillean Guilder (ANG), also called the Florin. The Antillean Guilder's exchange rate is fixed to the US Dollar at a price of 1 USD = 1.80 ANG. When exchanging money at a bank the exchange rate is 1.78 or 1.82 ANG, depending on if you're buying or selling.

You can use US Dollars everywhere in Curaçao. In stores and restaurants and such the exchange rate used is usually 1 USD = 1.75 ANG for ease of calculation.

ATM's can be found all over the island. Paying with card is also widely accepted.


Grocery store / Supermarket

Supermarkets come in all sizes and in all prices on Curacao, from hypermarket to local store. 5 minutes away from Kas di Wayaka you will find Arco Iris, a medium sized Supermarket. A little further away is Mangusa Hypermarket. It's the biggest supermarket on the island. They offer a wide selection of US and Dutch products as well as local products. Local, small stores usually are cheaper, but offer a smaller range of products.

Some other supermarkets that are worth a visit are Vreugdenhil, Van den Tweel Supermarket and Centrum.
